UNIVERSITY THAT LEADS TO SUCCESS: OPEN DAY AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY
A large-scale Open Day was held at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, bringing together 10th- and 11th-grade students from Ust-Kamenogorsk schools, teachers, and parents. For many guests, this was the first step toward making a conscious choice about their future profession and university, while the format of the event turned getting to know the university into a true journey through the world of modern knowledge and technologies.
The Open Day was conceived not just as a presentation of educational programs. Its main goal was to show school students what their professional path could look like in a few years and to break the stereotype that a university is only about lectures and exams. Here, the university appeared as a space for growth, self-discovery, and the launch of a successful career.
The centerpiece of the program was the career-oriented exhibition AMANZHOLOV EDU EXPO. Each Higher School presented not abstract descriptions of educational programs, but real student achievements: engineering developments, startup projects, and AI-based digital solutions. Students could see how ideas turn into projects and theory becomes practice, and literally “touch” the professions of the future.
Particular excitement among guests was caused by a robot dog named Chipik—a bright symbol of the university’s technological capabilities. It moved, responded to commands, and instantly became the center of attention. For many students, this interactive experience was the moment when a simple and sincere thought arose: “I want to study here.”
The official part of the Open Day began with a concert program and a video presentation showcasing the achievements of Amanzholov University. Today, the university rightfully ranks among the leading educational and scientific-innovative centers in the region: it has been awarded 4 stars in the international QS Stars ranking, ranks 39th among Central Asian universities, and in 2024 entered the top 4 multidisciplinary universities in Kazakhstan. The high quality of education is further confirmed by the result—100% employment!
School students were welcomed by the Chairman of the Board – University Rector, Professor Mukhtar Tolegen, and Deputy Chairman of the Board, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Cooperation, Irina Rovnyakova. In his speech, the rector emphasized that the university is not just about a diploma, but an environment where skills demanded in the economy of the future are developed: critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and responsibility for one’s choices. Even during their studies, students participate in real projects, startups, research, and international programs.
A highlight of the event was the concert program, the final of the competition “AI Lifehack Battle: How Artificial Intelligence Helps Students”, where participants presented ideas for applying AI in learning and everyday life, demonstrating that the new generation thinks boldly, technologically, and is ready for the challenges of the time. An interactive game with the audience also took place, during which students received coupons and discounts for studying.
After the official part, guests enjoyed interactive sessions, quests, intellectual games, and live communication with students and teachers. School students asked questions, tried themselves in different roles, and experienced the atmosphere of real university life—open, dynamic, and inspiring.
