THE FIRST INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAM IN ERGOPEDAGOGICS AND ERGOTHERAPY IN KAZAKHSTAN
At Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, the first innovative educational program in the Republic of Kazakhstan combining pedagogy and medicine has been launched. The university is now enrolling students in the unique interdisciplinary bachelor’s program “6B01905 – Ergopedagogy with a specialization in Ergotherapy (Ergorehabilitation)”.
The program was developed in collaboration with the Semey Medical University and approved by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This educational track represents a new format of professional training, integrating pedagogical and medical components, making it the first and only program of its kind in the country.
Key features of the program:
- Interdisciplinary approach integrating special pedagogy and ergotherapy;
- Modern curriculum aligned with current regulatory and professional standards;
- Medical module teaching (lasting two semesters) conducted by medical university faculty and practicing clinicians;
- Access to advanced scientific resources and practical bases of both universities in Kazakhstan;
- High demand for graduates in inclusive education, rehabilitation, and social support.
The educational process is built on a biopsychosocial model, preparing a new generation of specialists capable of professionally supporting individuals with special educational needs and developmental disorders. The inclusion of a medical module in the pedagogical program significantly expands graduates’ professional competencies, enhances practical skills, and increases competitiveness in the labor market.
The university invites high school and college graduates, as well as anyone interested in a humane, socially meaningful, and forward-looking profession that combines pedagogical and medical knowledge.
