THE SPARTAKIAD 2026 OPENING CEREMONY TOOK PLACE

The annual Spartakiad was ceremonially opened at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. This traditional sporting event is organized to engage faculty members and university staff in mass physical culture and wellness activities, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle.

In her welcoming address to the participants, Deputy Chair of the Board – Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Cooperation Irina Rovnyakova emphasized the importance of sport and team spirit in strengthening corporate culture and maintaining an active lifestyle.

On January 6, the first stage of the Spartakiad took place. As part of this stage, team captains participated in a draw, the results of which determined the subgroups for the subsequent competitions.

Over the course of five days, 10 teams will compete in seven sports. The Spartakiad program includes table tennis, swimming, volleyball, futsal, togyzqumalaq, chess, and tug of war. The organizers note that the competitions promise to be dynamic and exciting, and participation in them will be an excellent opportunity to strengthen team interaction and sporting enthusiasm among university staff.
