First-year student of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Milana Shchetinina, has achieved an outstanding sporting success by becoming a world champion in karate at the prestigious international tournament The 5th World Kyokushin Championship, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Milana competed in the 18–21 age category, up to 60 kg, and confidently won the gold medal, confirming her high level of preparation and many years of dedicated training.
Milana has been practicing karate for 11 years and holds the title of Master of Sport. Throughout her athletic career, she has repeatedly won national championships of Kazakhstan and has also been a medalist at international and republican competitions. Her achievements include two silver medals and one bronze medal at the Asian Championships. In 2023, the athlete became a silver medalist at the The 4th World Kyokushin Championship.
Preparation for the world championship was not easy, as Milana had to combine intensive training with her university studies.
A special role in this success was played by her coach, Ilya Vladimirovich Yakovlev. At the same championship, he also demonstrated an outstanding result by becoming a four-time world champion.
In the future, Milana Shchetinina plans to continue her sports career, compete in international tournaments, and engage in coaching, working with children and passing on her experience and love for sports.
